Dr. Joni Jefferson is the founder and medical director of Zen Aesthetics in Morristown, New Jersey, and one of an estimated 5% of minority physicians practicing in medicine today. A board-certified family physician specializing in skin of color, she brings more than 15 years of national clinical experience, including advanced, hands-on training with some of the country’s leading aesthetic injectors, to every course she teaches.

Dr. Jefferson earned her undergraduate degree with honors from Spelman College, completed post-baccalaureate studies at Southern Illinois University, and received her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008. She went on to complete an advanced family medicine residency at Hunterdon Medical Center in New Jersey before founding Zen Aesthetics in 2021.

Beyond the treatment room, Dr. Jefferson is a recognized voice in inclusive aesthetic medicine, featured in Dermatology Times and UPTOWN Magazine for her work expanding access to safe, physician-led aesthetic care and mentorship for underrepresented practitioners entering the field. Her clinical focus includes neuromodulators, dermal fillers, collagen-stimulating therapies, skin of color dermatology, and safe laser selection across all skin tones.
